BFS Current Story
9-28-2009 - Another disappointing loss this week for the Beavers. The Beavers lost to the Arizona Wildcats 37-32 on Saturday afternoon in Corvallis and this loss may be a dagger in the back to the hopes of this team having a successful season. Arizona was a team the Beavers should beat, especially at home. The Beavers failed to stop the Arizona passing game allow Foles of Arizona to go25-34 for 254 yards passing. For the second week in a row the Beaver defense failed to get a sack of the quarterback allowing the QB to rome freely in the backfield with time to find an open receiver. For the second week in a row the Beavers offensive line gave up 5 sacks and allowing the opposing defense far to many hits on Canfield and giving him no time in the pocket to find open receivers. This after Offensive Line Coach Mike Cavanaugh noted that players just need to step up and play better. The good news from last weekends game was I sold my tickets to go to San Francisco with my wife for the weekend and enjoyed a great dinner and cocktail party Friday night and a great wine tour of the Napa Valley on Saturday. The bads news is the Beavers once again gave away a game that they could have won by playing poor defense and by poor play by the offensive line and the quarterback. This season is shaping up to be another one of those seasons you would just as soon forget. Mike Riley has made a career out of bringing his teams back from the brink of doom to be successful the last three seasons but this year I am afraid they he just does not have the right personnel in many key areas to pull it off.
