Beavers Play #1 Ranked USC Today on National TV (ESPN) at 6pm

9-25-2008 - The top ranked USC trojans come to Corvallis tonight to play the Beavers on a nationally broadcast game on espn-tv. Can the Beavers do it again? Two years ago the #3 ranked USC Trojans came into Corvallis and were beaten by the determined defense and the quick strick offense of the Oregon State Beavers. If you don't remember that game you must have been living in a cave back then because it was one of the most exciting finishes in Beaver Footbal History as the Jeff Vanorsow batted down the pass at the line to stop the 2 point conversion of USC to tie the game with 17 secs. left on the clock.

Then there was the fog bowl in 2004 when then #1 ranked USC came to Corvallis and had to rally to get a 28-20 win over the Beavers. That game was so foggy that I could not see the other sideline from my seats.

So what will it be in 2008? Will the 1-2 Beavers be able to pull some more Reser Stadium magic out of their pockets and shock the world again? The Beavers should have plunty of confidence coming into the game after blowing out Hawaii last week. But USC is not Hawaii and they will definately remember what happened two years ago. So the Beavers had better be prepared.

Once again the Beavers are dominated in stats. With the slow start the Beavers have had this should be no surprise. USC is a high powered offense with a great defense. But the Beavers have found ways to overcome this in the past. Its not like they had big numbers advantages in previous games with USC. They just found ways to win by executing on the field. And the Beavers will once again have to execute their game plan on the field to have a chance to win. As they have showed time and time again. If they are in the game late with a chance to win, Rileys teams seem to find that extra bit to pull out the game.

THE BOTTOM LINE

The Beavers should not win this game. USC is the best team in the country and they have the staff and players to prove it. For the Beavers to win it will take a near perfect game and lots of luck.
