WE BELIEVE! - Beavers Come From Behind To Win in Last Second 19-17

11-23-2008 - MY OH MY! Wow what a finish! So tell the truth now. When Justin missed that extra point that would have tied the game with 3:58 to go in the game, did any of you feel that we had lost the game? I tell you what, it sure sucked the air out of my lungs. Especially after James Rodgers had just dropped that touchdown pass a few seconds before. I was thinking, man what do we have to do to win this game. I knew we had time left to make something happen but that meant shutting them down quickly and getting the ball back and we did just that. Canfield led the Beavers down the field with 1:19 left in the game to get the winning field goal by Justin. The big play in that drive was a 47 pass down field to the Arizona 8 yard line that put the Beavers in position for the winning field goal.

When they lined up for that kick I was standing with my hands on my knees and my head down praying that Justin would knock it threw. I looked up just in time to see the snap of the ball and watch it sail right down the middle for the winning 3 points. Somewhere my niece has the whole final minutes of that game and us watching it on video and if I can I will put it on for you to see.

The big concern for the Beavers coming out of the game is the condition of Quizz Rodgers. He left the game on the Beavers second series with a shoulder injury and did not return. The Beavers played a great without their starting quarterback in Lyle Moevao and Quizz Rodgers the PAC-10 leading rusher. Time will tell who will be available for the Civil War game next saturday.

Canfield had another good game in relief of Moevao going 20 of 32 for 224 yards and one touchdown, no interceptions and was only sacked once. James Rodgers, Ryan McCants and Jeremy Francis took over the rushing duties after Quizz went down and James (Wow, what a game) from the slot position carried the ball 10 times for 102 yards. Quizz had 20 yards on 4 carries. McCants had 54 yards on 15 carries and Francis had 61 yards receiving out of the backfield.

The stats show just how close this game was. Actually Arizona won more the our categories then the Beavers did, but the Beavers won in the one category that counts the most. The Final Score. Wow, What a Game! It was not as high scoring as I thought it was going to be but it was as close as I thought it would be. I have worried about this game for weeks. I knew it was going to be a battle to the end.

Now the Beavers have one more task at hand. THE CIVIL WAR!

The Beavers and the Ducks have the same overall record, 8-3. The Beavers are one game ahead of the Ducks in the standings, 7-1 to 6-2 with just the one game to go. It all comes down to this. One game for the PAC-10 title. Let's go finish the job Beavers. We BELIEVE!

GO BEAVERS!
