BFS Current Story Bye Week Recap The Beavers come into the bye week on a high after defeating the Cal Bears 31-28 at Cal. The Bears were ranked #2 in the nation at the time and is the highest ranked team the Beavers have beaten since the 1968 season. The team seems to be coming together and the improved play of quarterback Sean Canfield has Beaver fans hope on the rise. The Beavers record is currently at 4-3 and they are tied with Cal for 5th place in the PAC-10. With Washingon, Stanford and Washington State still on the schedule the Beavers have a real chance of finishing the season with a record of at least 7-5 which would put them into their 5th bowl game in the last 6 years. But the Beavers really need to buckle down and get to work. The Cal game is over and they face a rapidly improving Stanford Cardinal team this coming Saturday at Reser Stadium for Homecoming 2007. The Stanford Cardinal defeated #2 ranked USC two weeks ago in L.A. and this past weekend hosted Texas Christian University. TCU is 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the Mountain West Conference. Stanford lost a close game 38-36 to TCU. BY THE NUMBERS Below is a mid-season look at the overall numbers for the Beavers vs their Opponents.
The Beavers appear to be doing all the right things on the season statistically. The key factor that affects the overall record for the Beavers this season has been turnovers. If the Beavers had not committed so many turnovers in their 3 losses this season, their overall record could easily be 6-1 right now and not 4-3. For the Beavers to continue their current winning ways it is important that they continue to hold onto the ball and sustain their drives. The defense is playing well and will keep them in games if the offense can produce when they have the ball. More on the upcoming game vs the Stanford Cardinal later in the week. GO BEAVERS! BFS |
