Beavers Best Chance for a Win is This Weekend

2-14-2008 - Happy Valentines Day to all of Beaver Nation. The OSU Men's Basketball teams best chance to get a conference win this season will be this weekend against WSU and Thursday night and Washington on Saturday afternoon. In fact, the Saturday game vs Washington is perhaps their only real chance to get a win in their remaining schedule.

The Beavers were blown out by the Cougars in Pullman earlier in the season 46-69 and they don't have much of a chance to pull off the upset tonight vs the Cougars. The Cougars have not been playing as well lately as they were earlier in the season but they are still to much for the Beavers to handle. The Huskies come to Corvallis Saturday and it will present the Beavers with their best chance for victory since Dec. 19th. when they beat Northern Colorado at Gill.

Surprisingly the Beavers rank better statistically against the Cougars then the Huskies, ranking higher in conference stats in 5 categories over the Cougars and only 4 over the Huskies. But based upon how both teams are playing it is clear that the Beavers have a better chance with the Huskies. The Cougars slow style of play has a tendency to skew the stats in certain areas.

If the Beavers lose to the Cougars tonight they will have tied the all time losing streak of 14 games. That means that if the Beavers lose both this weekend they will officially be the worst team in school history. Lets hope they can find it within them to get a win.
