After Two More Embarrassing Loses, Beavers Travel to #8 WSU Today 1-17-2008 - The Beavers once again looked good at times but when all was said and done they once again failed to shoot well and played with a lack of overall effort in losing 2 more PAC-10 games at home vs Stanford and Cal. I had the misfortune of being able to use my season tickets for the Saturday game vs Cal. For most of the game it was a boring affair. The beavers did make a couple good runs but in the long run they just did not do enough to beat Cal and lost 59-69. Thursdays game vs Stanford was a route with the Beavers losing by 20, 46-66. This week the Beavers travel to #8 WSU and then to Washington. Washington my be the only team they can beat in the PAC-10 this season as they actually have similar stats to the Huskies. At WSU on Thursday they will probably lose to WSU by 40 points as the Cougars are coming off their first loss of the season to UCLA. We can only hope that the players have not given up and that an end to this will come sooner then later. THE BOTTOM LINE
My prediction for this weekend is the Beavers go 0-2 and lose by at least 10 in both games. But I will be cheering my team on every game and hopefully something will change soon to bring back the glory days of Beaver Basketball. ------------- Previous 2 Weeks Comment The Beavers need a new coach. Jay John has had 5 years and has not gotten the job done. He has a solid group of players who just will not play in a manner that will win games and that is the coaches fault. This is not youth summer ball. We are not playing over our heads. We are a PAC-10 conference team with talented young men on the roster who are not getting the job done. It will be a miracle if the Beavers win a game this weekend. But I will watch just the same and probably turn the game off sometime in the second half when they are shooting 50% from the line 35% from the field and have just gone 7 minutes without scoring. Good Luck Beavs, you'll need it. GO BEAVERS!
