Trying to End the Streak

1-30-2008 - Records are made to be broken. But in this case not a single player on the Oregon State men's basketball team wants to be a part of this record. On Saturday, at Mac Court, in Eugene Oregon, on the Campus of the Univeristy of Oregon. The Oregon State men's basketball team will be trying to avoid breaking the record for the longest losing streak in Oregon State men's basketball history. Currently the are tied for the record that was set some 80 years ago. The Beavers have lost 10 games in a row and hope to stop that streak at 10 this Saturday in Mac Court. Not the best place to try and win for the Beavers.

The Ducks, 12-8, 3-5 are struggling themselves. However, they have a talented team that scores points in bunches. But the Ducks are riding a losing streak of their own, having lost 4 in a row and dropping to 8th place in the conference standings. The Ducks were once ranked as one of the top teams in the nation but have fallen on hard times. A similar trend to what the Ducks football team did. Starting hot and fading down the stretch.

But the Ducks will be up for this game. It is at home for the Ducks and I am sure they are aware of the significance of this game to the Beavers.

For the Beavers to avoid the dubious honor of having the longest losing streak in school history they will have to do something that they have not been able to do all season. Shoot the ball well!

The Beavers rank 9th or 10th in the PAC-10 in eleven statistical categories, including 7 offensive categories.

The Beavers must shoot the ball well and also rebound the ball well. They have to show the kind of effort and consistent intensity that they have lacked this season. If they don't we will be witness to a history making day in Eugene.
